Walk the Runway in Zoolander 2 Then Enjoy Some Sushi at KUMO

Cast: Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penelope Cruz, Benedict Cumberbatch

15 years ago Derek Zoolander and Hansel graced our screens as shallow, yet naïve supermodels that took the fashion world by storm. Life seemed to be going well until Zoolander’s children center with a ridiculous name crumbles into the East River, killing his wife, injuring Hansel and eventually causing him to lose his son to child services. Secluded from the world, Zoolander is enticed back to fashion by an incredibly obnoxious hipster designer, only to be humiliated once again. Ready to leave the fashion world for good, he is brought in by Interpol to help stop the assassinations of the world’s most beautiful pop stars.

Zoolander 2 is nothing more than an unending array of ‘models are brainless and lack common sense’ jokes. In the first film it was funny, but by the second it’s just trite and overused. Zoolander’s narcissism and vanity even goes a bit beyond when he questions whether he can love his son because he’s fat. But, putting the plot of the film aside, the movies was full of funny one-liners and ridiculous situations.

A cornucopia of cameos throughout the film brought a fun element to an otherwise monotonous script. It was entertaining to guess who we’d see next in the film and in what capacity.  Everyone from pop stars, to actors, to big names in fashion are spread throughout, many of which are part of an orgy with Hansel. Laura Bush is probably thankful she decided to decline the chance to appear in the film. Though many mention the Justin Bieber cameo, Keifer Sutherland was one of the funnier ones to watch out for.

KUMO in New City, NY

I don't know about you, but fashion shows always put me in the mood for sushi. The beautifully plated and colorful dishes always put me in good spirits. And, if you’re in the Rockland County area you’ll want to stop by KUMO Sushi Lounge and enjoy their wide variety of Japanese-Asian infused dishes.

The modern décor and affordable prices make it a great place for not only the family, but a date night or a place to lounge while out with friends. The hibachi bar features shrimp, chicken, lobster tail and filet mignon, as well as a kid’s menu for children under 10. And, if sushi or hot entrees are more your speed, KUMO has an oyster bar and a number of tasty specials including the spicy girl roll – with tuna, salmon and yellowtail – grilled scallops, tuna tataki, yellowtail salad, and a variety of udon dishes, just to name a few. Side note - they have great lunch specials to choose from!

While you may come for the food, you’ll stay for the sake and cocktails, such as their lychee martini, and the dessert. You won’t want to leave until you try the fried ice cream or tiramisu glass.
