Superheroes of the Small Screen & Super Sized Appetites

Watching superheroes on the big screen is always a great experience, but we’re lucky enough to be in a time where we get to watch some really great superheroes come to life on our small screens as well. In a world of streaming and video on demand it’s almost impossible to miss out on all that’s out there. And whether you’re looking for a fun show full of action and adventure, or something with more grit, there is no shortage of options to choose from.

For an edgier, darker look and feel DC heroes are a good choice. The CW has done a fantastic job bringing some of our favorite characters to life with Arrow, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. All three shows offer complex characters and great action sequences that you can look forward to each week. Action aside, the shows also give audiences a real sense of human emotion, allowing us to feel a sense of connection to these, otherwise, super characters. Marvel, which normally has a brighter tone, also takes a walk on the darker side with Jessica Jones and Daredevil. Both Netflix originals show the seedy underbelly of Hell’s Kitchen and the unlikely heroes that look out for those in need.

If you’re looking for something a little lighter, but still packs a punch then Marvel’s Agent Carter, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and DC's Supergirl may be more up your alley. These shows are action packed, emphasize strong female leads and pepper in a good mix of humor and humanity.

SUPER SIZED FOODS
Yes, America is known for its obesity epidemic. We indulge in large portions and are gluttons for more. And in honor of that, here are a few New York restaurants serving up super-sized foods.

Benjamin Steakhouse
610 W Hartsdale Road in White Plains, NY

Steakhouses are typically known for their hearty portions, but Benjamin’s is in a league of its own. In addition to its steak dishes, the restaurant also boasts impressive “surf” selections with its seafood platters complete with jumbo shrimp, crab meat and lobsters.

The Beehive
30 Old Route 22 in Armonk, NY

The Beehive may be best recognized as an eclectic restaurant that surprisingly operates more like a diner, being open 24/7, but is also recognized for its endless menu that includes a seafood bar and “fall off the bone” baby back ribs.

Sparkill Steakhouse
500 Rt 340 in Sparkill, NY

Sparkill is another steakhouse on this list that deserves to be noticed for its enormous portions. Colossal crab meat, extra-thick cut bacon, and a grand shellfish tower grace the menus at this popular restaurant.

Lynch’s
79A S Liberty Drive in Stony Point, NY

This Celtic favorite serves up dishes like “drunken” penne pasta, but also offers multiple “build-a-burger” options. Enjoy dishes like the Mexican burger with pico de gallo, avocado and chipotle ranch and the breakfast burger with bacon and a fried egg.
