Get You in the Mood for Valentine’s Day: TV Couples that Melt Your Heart & Frisky Foods to Bring Out a Friskier You - Part 2

Favorite Frisky Foods that Will Get You in the Mood for Valentine’s Day
You often hear about “aphrodisiac” foods - foods that get you in the mood for well, let’s say Valentine’s Day - or any day of the week for that matter. You likely think it’s a hoax and that no food could literally increase your sex drive.

And you are partially right. Some foods like whipped cream are widely known to be erotic indulgences without there being any scientific proof of it having an effect on one’s libido. (Though films like Varsity Blues may make some feel otherwise…)

And then there are foods that are proven to make a real difference. Here are our picks:
  • Oysters -- No surprise here! This is the one that seems to always top the list. Oysters contain amino acids triggering production of sex hormones, as well as a whole ton of zinc cranking up the production of testosterone - making this delicacy the perfect choice for boosting love and fertility.
  • Chocolate - This guilty pleasure’s taste and aroma are both sensual and decadent. Cocoa contains the stimulant phenylethylamine, conjuring the sort of subtle feelings of well-being and excitement that make sex seem like a great idea. Additionally, dark chocolate has been proven to increase dopamine which induces feelings of pleasure.
  • Chili Peppers -- This one has an exotic reputation thanks to its bright red color symbolizing love. Not only that, but it stimulates endorphins, increases circulation, and triggers nerve endings.
  • Avocados -- You won’t want to pass up on this one for a little extra added to your favorite Mexican meal or healthy shrimp salad. The rich flavor of avocados helps your body churn out hormones like testosterone, estrogen and progesterone, as well as stimulate sexual responses.
  •  Honey -- This symbol of procreation is made through pollination, which now likely gives you new meaning to “the birds and the bees.” Not only that, but the word “honeymoon” got its name from mead, an alcoholic beverage given to a bride and groom.
  • Red Wine -- While not a food, who doesn’t love a drink from time to time? And why not have a good reason to open that bottle of wine? There is no better reason than to make you more relaxed. Moreover, red wine contains resveratrol, an antioxidant helping to boost blood flow and improve circulation before and during intercourse.
